6 weeks (55 mins. /wk.)
Class fees $140 (HST included)
BDOC members class fees $120 (HST included)

This class focuses on practicing the twelve exercises that are part of the Canadian Kennel Club's Canine Good Neighbour (CGN) test.  Your dog should have completed a basic or beginner obedience course and know how to sit, down, stay, and come when called. Some dogs many need to do the class more than once in order to master all the exercises.

The CGN test is open to all dogs 6 months of age, including purebred and mixed breed, and is fun, rewarding and useful.  It encourages owners to have a better and richer relationship with their dogs.
The CGN exercises are the following:

  • accepting a friendly stranger;
  • politely accepts petting;
  • appearance and grooming (evaluator examines dog);
  • out for a walk (loose leash walking);
  • walking through a crowd;
  • sit/down on command and stay in place (long line);
  • come when called (long line);
  • praise/interaction and have the dog calm;
  • reaction to a passing dog;
  • reaction to distractions;
  • supervised separation (3 minutes); and
  • walking through a door/gate.
After this class, your Fido should be prepared to try for a CGN certificate from the Canadian Kennel Club.
There is a separate fee to do the CGN test.

PLEASE NOTE:

Please bring your dog's vaccine certificate to first class.

All dogs must have their core vaccines (or titres) as recommended by your veterinarians.  While not compulsory, it's highly recommended that dogs are also inoculated against Bordetella.
